Printer Driver Upgrade IMPORTANT

When upgrading Secap printer drivers, delete ALL Secap/Bryce printer drivers and REBOOT PC BEFORE upgrading to the new version. Failure to delete all the printer drivers before upgrading will result in bad paper sizes being used with ‘old versions’ of the printer drivers. Failure to reboot may result in not having the latest printer driver installed.

For example: If you have a ‘BOS 24K’ and BOS 24K memory overlay printer driver installed, delete BOTH printer drivers before installing a new version.

For example: If you have ‘BOS 9K-L’, ‘BOS 24K’ and ‘BOS 9K-LC/13K-C’ printer drivers installed, delete ALL the printer drivers and reboot PC before installing a new version.

Win2000 Users: IMPORTANT

Please make sure that Service Pack 3 is installed before installing this printer driver. Service Pack 2 has problems that will result in Winspool errors when using this printer driver. Windows XP users are not affected.

Version 1.8 16Dec2002

Correction

Printer Drivers for 30K, 24K, 26K and 22K, including memory overlay versions now properly support custom pages created using the File/Server Properties dialogue in the Printer Drivers window. The page height can vary from 0.5” to 3.0”. The previous version of the printer driver did not support custom pages properly.

Version 1.7 12Nov2002

Enhancement

Printer Drivers for 22K, 22K memory overlay, 26K and 26K memory overlay have been added to the list of available printer models.

Correction

For 24K and 30K printer drivers

Print Orientation has now been moved from the ‘Properties/Document Settings’ tab to the ‘Printer Preferences/Advanced tab. This allows the Printer Orientation option to be available from any File/Print dialogue window, instead of only from the ‘Printers’ folder.

For all shuttling head printers

Print Orientation, Feed Delay and Media Mode have been moved from the ‘Properties/Document Settings’ tab to the ‘Printer Preferences/Advanced tab. This allows these options to be available from any File/Print dialogue window, instead of only from the ‘Printers’ folder.

The left margins for B4, B5 and C4 paper sizes are now correct. In previous version the margins were on the right side of the paper instead of the left side.

Version 1.6 13May2002

Enhancement

The 24K/30K printer drivers have been separated into two drivers, 24K printer drivers and 30K printer drivers. The memory configuration of the 24K is different than the 30K.

Two new printer drivers have been added, 20K-L and 24K-L printer drivers.

An additional printer font, POSTNET Courier, has been added to the list of available printer fonts. The other printer font is Courier. POSTNET Courier is a printer font available in Windows 95/98/ME and is now available in Win2000/XP to be upward compatible with files brought from Windows 95/98/ME.

Correction

The installation script file has been updated to prevent an occasional error where Windows 2000 would not install the printer driver.

The trailing PCL command <esc>-E has been removed from all printer drivers. This allows the last page of print jobs on shuttling head printers to be recovered properly and the last three pages on fixed head printers to be recovered properly.

Version 1.5 6 Dec 2001

Enhancement

A new menu option is available in the /Properties/Document Settings dialogue. The option is ‘Print Orientation’. The Print Orientation can be set to 1) Use Front Panel, 2) Normal (Upright) or 3) Invert. The default value is ‘Use Front Panel’. The Normal and Invert settings are equivalent to the main menu setting A. Address Layout 4. Orientation, Normal or Invert.

PCL commands have been added to the header of the print job to record the operating system, distributor and version of the printer driver. These commands are to aid in technical support.

Correction

A PCL command has been added to inform the printer that Windows 2000 does not output the ASCII character set for downloaded characters. This command is used to suppress output of the address in Address Recovery, as the address as sent by Windows 2000 is not legible. It also prevents the printer from accidentally printing a PLANET barcode string or seeing a false Postal Bundle Break. This applies to 24K, 24K-P and 30K printers with firmware version 113001 or later.

Version 1.4.3 8 Nov 2001

Corrections:

In the previous versions, the internal printer font Courier was not properly configured. The internal printer font Courier is provided for use with the ~~xxxxx string, ~#xxxxx string, for use with postal bundle break strings, and for use with ZIP codes. Secap printers will recognize the above strings properly when the strings are defined using the internal printer font Courier.

The left margin for C4 envelope was not correct. The default left margin is now correct for a C4 envelope.

Version 1.3 13 Aug 2001

Corrections:

In the previous version, some graphics would print with extra black underneath and to the right of the graphics. This extra black printing has been corrected.

Version 1.2 22 May 2001

This is the third production release of the 3K, 5K, 5K-L, 7K, 9K-L, 9K-LC, 11K, 13K, 24K, 24K-P and 30K Windows 2000 Printer Driver. The 9K-L printer driver may be used with 11K and 13K printers. The 9K-LC printer driver may be used with 13K-C printers. The 24K/30K and 24K/30K memory overlay printer drivers are for use with the 24K, 24K-P and 30K printers. The 3K/5K/7K/5K-L printer driver may be used with the 3K, 5K, 7K, 5K-L printers.

Enhancements:

The Secap 30K printer has been added to the list of supported printers. The 24K printer drivers have been replaced with a 24K/30K printer drivers. The 13K-C printer has been added to the 9K-LC printer driver. The 9K-LC printer driver is now called 9K-LC/13K-C printer driver.

The 5K-LE and 7K-E printers have been included in a new printer driver called 5K-LE/7K-E printer driver.

Corrections:

In the previous version, the page size “Full Page Size (9.4in x 15in)” was not defined properly. It was defined to be 7.5” not 15” high. This has been corrected to this release. This correction only applies to shuttling head printers. It does not apply to 24K, 24K-P or 30K printers.

IMPORTANT: Before installing the new version of the printer driver. Remove the current page definition from your system. The procedure is as follows:

Version 1.1 22 June 2000

This is the first production release of the 3K, 5K, 5K-L, 7K, 9K-L, 9K-LC, 11K, 13K, 24K and 24K-P Windows 2000 Printer Driver. The 9K-L printer driver may be used with 11K and 13K printers. The 9K-LC printer driver may be used with 13K-C printers. The 24K and 24K memory overlay printer drivers are for use with the 24K and 24K-P printers. The 3K/5K/7K/5K-L printer driver may be used with the 3K, 5K, 7K, 5K-L printers.

Restrictions:

The 9K-LC printer driver is a ‘raster’ color printer driver only. There is no support at this time for ‘black’ characters. All graphics and characters are printed using the color print head only. The printer driver does not use the black print head in any way. This limitation may be removed in a future release of this printer driver.
